What's now "Harvey's" (in The Castro) used to be "The Elephant Walk". But everyone called it "The Elephant Cock". The Castro has lots of amusing "popular" names. Twin Peaks, much favored by older gay men for its bench-to-ceiling windows and excellent location, is known as "The Glass Coffin". Now-closed health food restaurant Amazing Grace was "Amusing Grease", while fashionable Cafe Flore is "Cafe Hairdo". But I digress, as usual. Moby Dick's is real, as is Daddy's. The Pendulum misses its opportunity by *not* being an explicitly bisexual bar.

There is a similarly named tavern in the Boston area. I didn't go, but someone told me that their schtick was that they were deliberately rude in an exaggerated, comical fashion. Charming. Makes me wonder if it was "Dicks" (no apostrophe)
